Dental implants are metal screws that sit in the jawbone, acting as the new root for a prosthetic tooth that sits on top of it. The screws are most commonly made of a completely body-safe and biocompatible metal called titanium, while the prosthetic tooth or teeth are designed to look and act exactly as a natural tooth would.
What is the treatment process like?
